Terms of sale

Last updated 8 August 2026.

These terms govern every purchase of the chesstactics lifetime unlock. They sit alongside the terms of use and the privacy policy. Buying the unlock means accepting them.

2. What you are buying

One lifetime unlock of chesstactics, for $49, paid once. It gives your account access to every journey section on the site, including the ones added later, for as long as the service runs. It is not a subscription: nothing renews and nothing expires.

It is a licence to use the training content personally, not ownership of it. It does not transfer to another account and it is not resellable.

3. Price and payment

3.1 On the web

Prices are shown in US dollars and include any tax we are required to charge, calculated at checkout from your billing country. The price you see at checkout is the price you pay. Payment is processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card details, and your receipt is emailed when the payment settles.

3.2 In the mobile app

Apple and Google require their own billing for digital content, so the same unlock is sold in the iOS and Android apps as an in-app purchase, at the price the store shows you in your own currency. Those purchases are billed and refunded through your Apple or Google account, under their terms. An unlock bought on either rail applies to the same account.

3.3 Failed payments

If a payment is declined the order does not complete, nothing is unlocked and nothing is retained. You can simply try again.

4. Delivery

Access is granted to your account as soon as the payment is confirmed, usually within seconds, and longer for payment methods that settle over days. There is nothing to ship and nothing to download.

5. Right of withdrawal, and refunds

5.1 Fourteen days, unconditionally

If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK you have fourteen (14) days from the purchase to withdraw, for any reason, and we will not ask you to justify it (Articles L.221-18 et seq. of the French Consumer Code). Digital content delivered immediately can be exempt from that right, but only where the buyer expressly consented to immediate delivery and acknowledged losing the right. We do not ask you to do that at checkout, so the exemption does not apply here: the fourteen days stand even though your access is immediate.

A clear statement, for example "I withdraw from my chesstactics purchase of [date], [account email]", sent to hello@chesstactics.app is enough. We reimburse within fourteen (14) days of your request, to the original payment method.

5.2 After the fourteen days

We will still refund you if the product is not what was described, or if it simply does not work for you, email us and say so. A refunded purchase returns the account to the free tier, which stays complete.

5.3 Purchases made in the app

Refunds for an in-app purchase are requested from Apple or Google, under their refund policies, because they took the payment. If they decline and you are within your fourteen days, write to hello@chesstactics.app and we will help.

6. What “lifetime” means

The lifetime of the product, which is an honest limit rather than a loophole: the unlock is personal, non-transferable and tied to your account, and it lasts as long as the service is operated. If chesstactics ever shuts down we will say so in advance and make your content exportable before it does.

7. Legal guarantee of conformity

As a consumer you benefit from the legal guarantee of conformity for digital content and services (Directive (EU) 2019/770; Articles L.224-25-1 et seq. of the French Consumer Code). If the unlock does not conform to what was promised you may ask us to bring it into conformity, and failing that obtain a price reduction or terminate the contract with a refund. Nothing in these terms limits a right you hold under mandatory consumer law where you live.

8. Support and complaints

Billing questions, refunds and withdrawals all go through the contact page or straight to hello@chesstactics.app; replying to your receipt reaches us too. We aim to answer within a few working days. We run the service with reasonable care but cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation; liability is limited as described in the terms of use.

9. Mediation and disputes

If a complaint cannot be settled with us directly, consumers in France may use free consumer mediation (Articles L.611-1 et seq. of the French Consumer Code); ask at hello@chesstactics.app and we will give you the details of the applicable mediator. Any dispute remains subject to the mandatory consumer-protection law of the country where you live.

10. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms; the version that applies to your purchase is the one published here on the day you bought. They are governed by French law, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you live.
